"Great Experience" is the best we can describe our house hunt in Key West, under the delicate guidance of Bascom Grooms. A couple of months before a planned visit to Key West, we found Bascom's name on the internet and contacted him about our interest in looking at some properties as a potential 2nd home/investment opportunity. With some basic information from us, Bascom periodically shot us listing information and general Key West real estate information to prepare us for our upcoming property search. Bascom Grooms and Lori Langton have to be the hardest working real estate agents I have ever worked with. I recently completed the sale of my home with them through the short sale process. There were many peaks and valleys in the more than a year long process once we received an offer, but these two never faltered. As we approached what we thought would be a fairly easy process, buying a home in this real estate climate has proved to be more challenging. Rarely do you have a pleasurable experience spending several hundred thousand dollars, but I did.

After what seemed to be the longest, coldest winter of my 50 plus years in Michigan I got it in my head to go to the Florida Keys where many of my friends had wintered. I came across Bascom Grooms Real Estate and started communicating my then ideas for a place to buy. I started off in one direction and then did a complete 180. Then, I decided to spend much less money. Bascom rolled with the changes. I then made the offer on a property owned by the bank after going through foreclosure. Little did I know what an arduous task this sale became as banks are very difficult to deal with. I can only imagine what poor Bascom had to deal with. All I know is he made it happen and I own a precious little get away to share with friends and family which will make me a handsome profit someday.

Be informed that Key Westers go on “Island Time”. They come late and often don’t deliver the goods as promised. Bascom is the only islander that did not disappoint.

One more thing … what do you expect someone named Bascom Grooms IV to be like? Not a spoiled rich boy, not eccentric… just an honest easy going, yet professional business man. Just what you desire.

I just wanted to drop a note to tell you thanks for the way you handled the listing and selling of my mother's property on Patterson Avenue. As you know, it's always difficult when you're dealing with an estate property, and my situation was a bit complicated by the fact that I am an out-of-town owner.
